COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc in Computing Science at Griffith College offers a structured three-stage curriculum designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of computer science principles and practical IT skills. In Stage One, students build a foundation in essential computing areas, including computer programming, client-side web development, computer hardware, operating system design, software development, and systems analysis, while also developing effective learning strategies. Stage Two advances students’ technical expertise, focusing on object-oriented programming, relational databases, data structures and algorithms, server-side web development, system analysis and design, linear algebra, probability, and statistics, equipping them with the analytical and programming skills required for complex computing tasks. In the Award Stage, students consolidate their learning through advanced modules such as network and data communications, human-computer interaction and GUI programming, concurrent software development, numerical optimization, Linux systems administration, web technologies, and a group project, providing real-world, collaborative experience. This stage emphasizes practical application, problem-solving, and teamwork, ensuring graduates are prepared for professional IT roles. Throughout the program, students gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, enabling them to pursue careers in software development, web and network administration, cybersecurity, data analysis, and other technology-focused industries. The curriculum also provides a strong pathway for progression to the BSc (Hons) in Computing Science.
