COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Psychology program is structured across three stages and provides students with a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour, mental processes, and psychological research. In Stage One, students are introduced to the fundamental areas of psychology through modules such as Biological Bases of Human Behaviour, Developmental and Social Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology. They also study Personality and Individual Differences and the Historical and Philosophical Foundations of Psychology, which help them understand the origins and key theories of the field. Introduction to Research Methods and Ethics develops basic research skills, while Academic and Professional Development supports students’ academic growth. The Creative Mind module encourages creative thinking and exploration of psychological concepts. In Stage Two, students build on their knowledge with more advanced topics including Adulthood and Ageing, Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Personality studies. They also gain practical research experience through Research Methods and Laboratory Practicals in Psychology. Additional modules such as Psychology Applied to Education and Lifelong Learning in the 21st Century explore how psychological knowledge is applied in educational and real-life contexts. Academic and Professional Development continues to support professional skills. In Stage Three, students focus on specialised topics such as Neuropsychology, Mental Health and Psychopathology, and Counselling and Psychotherapy. They also complete an Independent Research Project while studying areas like Special Education, Inclusion, and Diversity, further preparing them for careers or postgraduate study.
