COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Music Production program is structured over three years and gradually develops students’ technical, creative, and professional skills in audio and music production. In Year One, students learn the fundamentals of music technology, including setting up recording equipment and using software to record, edit, and mix music. They gain practical experience with digital audio workstations such as Pro Tools and Logic Pro, while also studying recording studio principles, sound reinforcement for live events, and critical listening techniques. Students develop their musical understanding through music theory and aural training, and they also learn about the structure and operations of the music industry. In Year Two, the focus shifts to more advanced production techniques and creative development. Students build skills in advanced music technology, music production and recording, and sound design for media and virtual environments. They also study music composition for film and television, live performance technologies, and the history of music production and recording. In Year Three, students work at a professional level and focus on independent and industry-based projects. They complete a dissertation through research or practical work, while also studying advanced music production, studio design and installation, and professional practice within the music industry. Additional modules such as songwriting and arranging, professional client projects, and mixing, remixing, and mastering prepare students for professional careers in music production.
