COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Music Production with Composition program is structured over three years and is designed to develop students’ technical, creative, and professional abilities in music production and composition. In Year One, students are introduced to the fundamental aspects of music technology and audio production. Modules such as Music Technology, Applications Technology, and Recording Studio Principles teach students how to use recording equipment and industry software to produce music. They also study Music Theory and Aural Training to develop their understanding of musical structure and listening skills. Additional modules such as The Music Industry, Sound Reinforcement, and Critical Listening and Audio Analysis help students understand live sound systems, industry operations, and audio evaluation techniques. In Year Two, students advance their skills through modules such as Advanced Music Technology and Music Production and Recording, where they develop greater confidence in recording and producing music projects. They also explore creative and technical areas through Sound Design, Music and Image, and Live Music and Performance Technologies, while learning about the development of the field in History of Music Production and Recording. In Year Three, students focus on professional and independent work. They complete a Dissertation and study Advanced Music Production and Recording, Sound Design and Installation, and Professional Practice. Additional modules such as Composition for Visual Media, Creative Composition, and the Application of Psychology of Music further enhance their creative and analytical abilities.
