COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Fashion Design program is structured over three years and provides students with a strong balance of creative design, technical garment construction, and industry knowledge. In Year One, students build fundamental skills in fashion design and garment construction while also developing visual communication through design graphics. Modules such as Fashion Design 1 and 2, Garment Construction 1 and 2, and Design Graphics help students understand the basic principles of fashion creation and technical production. Additional subjects like The Business of Fashion, Contextual Studies for Fashion, Textile Theory, and Design Culture and Theory introduce students to the history, context, and commercial aspects of the fashion industry. In Year Two, the focus shifts to expanding creative and professional skills. Students continue with advanced Fashion Design and Garment Construction modules while also learning Fashion Illustration, Digital Portfolio development, and exploring innovation through Design Futures. Business-oriented subjects such as Entrepreneurship and Business, Brand and Marketing, and Photography and Video help students understand branding, promotion, and industry presentation. In Year Three, students concentrate on major practical and research projects that showcase their design abilities and technical expertise. Key modules include Major Fashion Projects, Garment Construction Projects, and 3D Digital Design. Students also complete a Dissertation and develop a Professional Practice and Portfolio to prepare for careers in the fashion industry.
