COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Communications and Media Production at Griffith College is a three-year, full-time program designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills across a broad range of media disciplines. In the first year, students build a solid foundation in core areas including photography, video storytelling, radio and podcast production, digital and online media production, media law and ethics, communications history, and academic skills such as thinking, writing, and presenting. The second year allows students to develop specialized skills through elective streams, with options in media reporting, investigative journalism, video storytelling, photography, visual communications, web design, and digital marketing fundamentals, alongside studies in contemporary politics, history of art and photography, and research methods. In the third year, students consolidate their learning with advanced modules in contemporary politics, media sociology, conflict reporting, creative writing, data journalism, online content creation, film studies, commercial photography, environment communication, public relations, sports journalism, and professional practice and development. They also complete a dissertation and media exhibition to demonstrate independent research and creative abilities. This curriculum combines hands-on media production with analytical, critical, and communication skills, preparing graduates for careers across journalism, digital media, photography, broadcast, PR, content creation, and other professional roles in the evolving communications and media industry.
