COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA in Graphic Communication Design program is structured over three years to gradually develop students’ creative, technical, and strategic design skills. In Year One, students focus on building a strong artistic and design foundation. Modules such as Creative Studio Projects, 2D Freehand Drawing Techniques, and 3D Freehand Drawing Techniques help students develop their drawing and visual thinking abilities. They also learn to use digital tools through Digital Design Tools modules, while Design Principles introduces them to the fundamental concepts of layout, composition, and visual communication. Visual Culture and Theory helps students understand how design interacts with culture and society. In Year Two, the program becomes more specialised in graphic communication. Students study Communication Design, Typography, Design Graphics, and Illustration to develop their creative ideas and technical design skills. Modules such as Advertising and Editorial Photography and Contextual Studies for Visual Communication introduce students to professional design practices and visual storytelling. Design Culture and Theory further strengthens their understanding of the role of design in media and communication. In Year Three, students build on their advanced design knowledge through modules such as Communication Design, Typography, and Web Design. They also explore modern design trends through Design Futures and learn industry-related skills through Brand and Marketing, Interaction Design, and Photography and Video. Entrepreneurship and Business prepares students for professional careers or freelance opportunities in the design industry.
