COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA in Communications program spans three years and is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary media and communications practices. In the first year, students are introduced to core skills and foundational concepts, including digital, online, and social media production, mobile media, photography, and radio production, alongside courses in communications history, cultural journalism, and critical thinking, writing, and presentation skills. This initial year builds a strong base for both practical and theoretical understanding of the communications landscape. In the second year, students expand their knowledge with more advanced and applied modules such as media production, photography, radio production, media law and ethics, news reporting, and feature writing. They also study contemporary politics, narrative construction, and may choose electives like shorthand or advanced writing and presentation skills to further specialize their expertise. In the final year, students focus on professional and industry-oriented modules, including the business of media, investigative journalism, media reporting and editing, and video production. Additional courses in media studies, history of art and photography, and research methods strengthen their analytical and research skills. Across all three years, the program emphasizes the development of practical media skills, critical thinking, and professional competencies, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for careers in journalism, media production, broadcasting, digital communications, and related fields.
