COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Computing offers a structured curriculum across four specialised Majors: Natural Language Processing (NLP), Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Secure Software Engineering (SSE). Each Major comprises core taught modules (each 7.5 ECTS) and concludes with a practicum worth 30 ECTS, where students apply their learning in a practical or research setting.The Natural Language Processing Major focuses on equipping students with a deep understanding of language technologies. Core modules include Foundations of Natural Language Processing, Introduction to Machine Learning, Deep Learning for NLP, Human Factors in NLP, and Advanced Machine Learning. Students also study Data Analytics & Data Mining and choose electives such as Machine Translation or Mathematical Methods/Computational Science. The program culminates in a 30-credit NLP Practicum.The Data Analytics Major develops skills in data analysis and interpretation. Key modules include Statistical Data Analysis, Cloud Technologies, Data Management and Visualisation, and Mathematical Methods/Computational Science. Students also explore Artificial Intelligence, Information Seeking, and Machine Learning. The major concludes with the DA Practicum, providing real-world experience in data analytics.The Artificial Intelligence Major covers both foundational and advanced AI concepts. Modules include Foundations of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics and Data Mining, and Data Management and Visualization. Students can choose electives such as Statistical Machine Translation or Mechanics of Search. The AI Practicum enables learners to apply AI techniques to practical problems.The Secure Software Engineering Major emphasises building secure, robust software systems. Modules include System Software, Secure Programming, Cryptography and Number Theory, Formal Programming, Concurrent Programming, Software Process Quality, and Network Security. The SSE Practicum allows students to work on security-focused software projects.Across all Majors, the inclusion of the Professional and Research Practice module ensures learners develop essential professional skills and research competencies, making them well-prepared for advanced careers in computing.
