COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Financial Technology is structured across three stages, offering a progressive learning journey that integrates financial principles with cutting-edge technological applications. In Stage 1, students begin with "The Evolution of FinTech," which provides historical context and insight into the development of the financial technology sector. This stage also includes "Quantitative Financial Modelling," equipping students with the mathematical and statistical tools essential for financial analysis, as well as "FinTech Regulation," which explores the legal and regulatory frameworks governing digital financial services. "Research Methods I" introduces students to the foundations of academic research, preparing them for later research-based components of the program.Stage 2 deepens the technical and analytical focus, starting with "Information & Cybersecurity Management," which addresses critical concerns around data protection and risk management in financial systems. "Distributed Ledger and Asset Tokenisation" introduces blockchain technologies and their applications in areas such as cryptocurrencies and smart contracts. "Data Analytics & Machine Learning" develops practical skills in handling and interpreting large financial datasets, while "Applied Financial Analysis" builds expertise in applying financial models to real-world scenarios. "Research Methods II" continues the training in research design and methodology, setting the stage for the final phase.In Stage 3, learners choose one of three capstone options to complete the program. The "Applied Research Project" offers a chance to work on a real-world industry problem, while the "Dissertation" involves an in-depth academic study on a topic of interest. Alternatively, the "Placement" option provides practical work experience within a financial technology environment. Each of these capstone pathways is worth 30 ECTS and is designed to consolidate learning and prepare students for professional roles in the FinTech industry. The program ensures a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge, technical expertise, and practical experience.
