COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Arts in Addiction Studies consists of a well-rounded structure of modules totaling 90 ECTS, designed to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge across various dimensions of addiction. The program begins with foundational learning through the "Addiction: Theory, Practice and Policy" module, which offers a broad understanding of addiction-related frameworks, treatment approaches, and policy implications. This is followed by "Systemic and Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Addiction," which explores the deeper psychological and relational factors that contribute to addictive behaviors. The "Research Methods and Analysis" module equips students with essential research skills, covering both qualitative and quantitative methodologies necessary for academic and professional inquiry.The program includes several specialized modules that allow students to explore specific aspects of addiction. "Addiction Psychopharmacology" provides an understanding of how substances affect the brain and body, while "Cultural Issues in the Study of Addiction" examines how cultural contexts influence addiction patterns and treatment responses. The "Women and Addiction" module focuses on gender-specific factors, offering insights into the unique challenges and experiences faced by women. Another distinctive module, "Storytelling and Addiction," looks at the role of narrative and lived experiences in understanding and addressing addiction.A major component of the program is the "Supervised Clinical Visits & Placement" module, which provides students with hands-on exposure through visits to treatment centers and engagement in volunteer placements. The program culminates in a 30 ECTS "Research Project," allowing students to conduct an in-depth investigation into a topic of their choice within the field of addiction.
