COURSE CURRICULUM

The Higher Diploma in Science in Data Analytics features a well-structured curriculum designed to equip learners with essential skills and knowledge required for careers in data analysis and data-driven decision-making. The program begins with foundational modules such as Statistics for Data Analytics (5 ECTS), which introduces core statistical concepts necessary for data interpretation, and Programming for Data Analytics (10 ECTS), which develops coding skills for processing and analysing data using industry-relevant languages and tools. Databases and Business Applications (5 ECTS) focuses on the structure, management, and use of databases in business contexts, while Data Visualisation and Communications (5 ECTS) teaches learners how to present data insights effectively using visual tools and storytelling techniques.Further into the program, Data and Network Mining (5 ECTS) introduces methods for uncovering patterns and relationships in structured and unstructured data, including social network data. Applied Data Analytics (10 ECTS) builds on earlier modules by applying analytical techniques to real-world datasets, enhancing learners’ ability to derive meaningful insights and support decision-making processes. Platforms for Data Analytics (10 ECTS) provides hands-on experience with current tools and platforms used in data analysis across various industries.In the final phase of the program, students can choose between two electives: a Project or a Placement, each worth 10 ECTS. The Project option allows learners to explore a specific data analytics problem or topic in depth, applying their knowledge in a focused, research-based setting. The Placement offers industry experience, enabling students to apply their skills in a real-world professional environment and gain valuable insights into data analytics practices in the workplace. This flexible and practical structure ensures graduates are not only technically proficient but also industry-ready, capable of contributing effectively to data-driven roles across sectors such as finance, healthcare, technology, and business.
