The Sound Engineering and Music Production course offers a structured, two-stage program that blends technical training, creative development, and music industry insight. In Stage 1, students are introduced to the fundamentals of sound and audio through modules such as Analysing Audio and Intro to Sound. They begin building practical skills with hands-on modules like Pre-production and Studio Engineering, Instrument Set-up, and Developing DAW Skills. The focus is on familiarising learners with studio equipment, sound design, and digital audio workstation (DAW) environments. Creative expression is nurtured through Composing in the DAW, while Business for Music Professionals introduces students to the commercial side of the music industry. Music Writings supports the development of critical and reflective thinking about music in both historical and contemporary contexts.Stage 2 deepens both technical and conceptual skills. Studio Production and Studio Recording provide advanced training in working with live instruments, session planning, and engineering techniques. Acoustics and Psychoacoustics for Production introduces the science of sound perception, essential for refined mixing and production work. Critical Listening and DAW Skills help students develop an ear for professional audio quality, while Electronic Music Composition explores synthesis, sampling, and genre-specific production approaches. A Research Project allows students to investigate an area of personal or professional interest, fostering independent learning and deeper engagement with key topics. Marketing Essentials and Business Planning equips students with tools to navigate the commercial aspects of a music career, including promotion, branding, and entrepreneurial planning.By the end of the course, students have built a strong portfolio of practical experience and industry-relevant skills, positioning them for careers in studio engineering, music production, electronic composition, or related creative roles.
