The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Film and Creative Media offers a comprehensive and practice-based education that spans across audio, video, photography, visual effects, screenwriting, and emerging technologies. In Year 1, students are introduced to foundational skills with modules such as Audio Tech & Techniques, Video Editing Fundamentals, Digital Photography, and The Moving Image. These are supported by theoretical insights in Media & Identity and Professional Practice, alongside essential storytelling skills in Writing for Screen Media. The first year aims to build technical competency and creative confidence in handling diverse media formats.Year 2 focuses on refining these skills while introducing more specialised areas. Students explore Cinematography, Scriptwriting and Development, and Audio for Podcasting and Film, while also diving into the fundamentals and applications of VFX. Theoretical grounding continues with modules like Contemporary Film and Television and Exploring Popular Culture. Practical project management is emphasised through Project Management for Creative Media Outputs, and students begin compiling a Creative Projects Portfolio to showcase their growing body of work.Year 3 marks a transition into advanced practice and industry preparation. Modules such as Animation, Titles & Publishing, Screen Theory & Criticism, and Transmedia Practices explore emerging storytelling formats and critical analysis. Students develop research and industry skills through Research Skills, Professional Practice in Budgeting & Scheduling, and an Industry Engagement or Internship module. The program integrates current technological trends with modules on Generative AI in Film & Creative Media, reflecting the evolving landscape of content creation.
