COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance program is structured over three years, progressively building students’ knowledge and skills in both core and advanced areas of accounting, finance, and business. In Year 1, students are introduced to foundational concepts through core modules such as Principles of Accounting, Economic Perspectives, Business Context and Organisation, IT Essentials, Mathematics for Business, Foundational Academic Skills, and Accounting Information Systems. These subjects lay the groundwork in understanding the business environment, developing technical and academic skills, and introducing basic accounting practices.In Year 2, the focus shifts towards deepening students' understanding of finance and legal frameworks. Modules include Business and Company Law, Management, Cost Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Financial Management. These are complemented by ESG and Ethics, which addresses environmental, social, and governance responsibilities in finance, and Advanced Economic Perspectives, which further develops economic analysis in business decision-making. This year emphasizes the integration of legal, ethical, and economic principles with accounting practices, preparing students for real-world financial decision-making.In the final year, students engage with more complex and strategic aspects of the field. Modules such as Management Accounting for Performance, Advanced Financial Management, Financial Reporting, Taxation Systems, and Audit and Assurance are designed to refine their analytical, regulatory, and reporting skills. The Capstone Project allows students to apply their cumulative learning to a comprehensive research or practical project, demonstrating their ability to synthesize knowledge and present solutions to financial challenges. This structured progression ensures graduates leave the program with a strong academic foundation, practical skills, and professional readiness to pursue careers in accountancy, financial management, auditing, or further professional qualifications such as ACCA or CIMA.
