COURSE CURRICULUM

The Plant Protection program, led by Dr. habil. László Radócz PhD, is a comprehensive multi-semester course designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in plant protection. The curriculum is divided into applied natural sciences, obligatory special plant protection subjects, optional subjects, and thesis preparation, complemented by summer practice and physical education. Applied natural sciences cover topics such as chemistry of plant protection, environmental protection and ecotoxicology, crop production, general plant pathology, zoology and ecology, herbology, molecular biology, and biotechnology, providing students with a solid foundation in plant biology, pathology, and protection technologies. Obligatory special subjects include advanced modules such as plant pathology, entomology, weed biology and management, integrated pest management, and human hygiene, which develop students’ expertise in identifying and controlling pests, pathogens, and weeds, as well as applying ecological and integrated pest management strategies. Optional subjects allow students to select modules like planning and evaluating plant protection trials, mycology and fungal toxicology, greenhouse plant protection, pesticide mechanisms, and alternative plant production, enabling them to tailor their studies to their research interests and professional goals. Thesis preparation spans multiple semesters, guiding students through independent research, project work, data collection, analysis, and reporting under supervision, culminating in the completion of a significant research project. The program also includes summer practice to provide hands-on field experience. Across all semesters, students earn credits through lectures, practical sessions, evaluations, and project work, ensuring a balanced and thorough educational experience. The program is designed to prepare graduates for careers in plant protection management, consultancy, regulatory roles, and research, while also equipping those interested in further studies with the skills needed for PhD training and advanced scientific research in the field.
