COURSE CURRICULUM
The Geoinformatics MSc program is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in spatial data collection, analysis, and visualization, preparing them for professional and research careers in geospatial science. In the first year, students are introduced to new research methods in geosciences, which form the foundation for understanding and conducting advanced geospatial investigations. Geostatistics is emphasized to equip students with the ability to analyze spatial variability and model geospatial phenomena accurately. Management basics, project management, and data protection are also covered to ensure students can plan, organize, and execute geoinformatics projects while maintaining data integrity and security. In the second year, students gain practical expertise in geoscientific data mining and spatial data analysis, enabling them to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets. Photogrammetry and point cloud analysis are studied to create detailed three-dimensional representations of landscapes, infrastructure, and environmental features, while CAD and open-source software training provides the technical foundation to develop and manage geospatial projects efficiently. Programming skills are integrated into the curriculum to support automation, data processing, and custom geospatial applications. Remote sensing techniques, including multispectral and hyperspectral imaging, are taught for advanced environmental and resource monitoring. Web mapping, raster analysis, and geovisualization enable students to communicate spatial information effectively, creating interactive and visually informative outputs. The program balances theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, preparing graduates to apply cutting-edge geoinformatics tools in areas such as environmental protection, urban and regional planning, disaster management, and natural resource assessment. By completing this program, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical competencies, making them well-equipped for professional roles in public institutions, private companies, and international organizations, as well as for continuing their research in doctoral studies in geoinformatics and related disciplines.
