COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, the program establishes a strong theoretical and methodological foundation common to both specializations. Terms and Concepts in Literary and Linguistic Studies introduces the key terminology, theoretical frameworks, and analytical approaches used in contemporary literary and linguistic scholarship. Advanced Academic Writing develops students’ ability to produce well-structured, research-based academic texts that meet international scholarly standards. Trends in Linguistic, Literary and Cultural Studies familiarizes students with current debates, emerging perspectives, and interdisciplinary approaches within the field of English Studies. Modern British Society and Language explores the social, historical, and cultural context of contemporary Britain, with particular attention to language use and variation. Advanced Research Methods equips students with qualitative and quantitative methodologies necessary for conducting independent research, preparing them for their thesis work.In Year 2, students follow the specialized subjects of either the literary and cultural studies track or the linguistics track, depending on their chosen pathway. The literary and cultural studies track typically deepens knowledge in areas such as genre studies, cultural theory, postcolonial studies, and historical literary analysis. The linguistics track focuses on advanced topics such as syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, and applied linguistics. The program culminates in the preparation and submission of a master’s thesis, demonstrating independent research, critical analysis, and scholarly competence within the selected field.
