In Year 1, the curriculum provides a comprehensive foundation in the interdisciplinary study of the United States and the wider North American region. American Literary Culture explores major literary movements, genres, and authors within their historical and cultural contexts. American History and Political Culture examines the development of political institutions, constitutional traditions, and ideological frameworks shaping the United States. American Culture Through Language focuses on the relationship between language, identity, and cultural expression, highlighting the distinctive features of American English. Literary and Cultural Theory introduces key theoretical frameworks that support critical interpretation across texts and media. Introduction to the Profession of American Studies familiarizes students with the interdisciplinary nature, research methods, and academic standards of the field. American Popular Culture analyzes media, film, music, and other cultural forms as reflections of social and political realities. North American History and Political Culture in the 20th Century concentrates on major transformations, conflicts, and global influences that shaped the modern era.In Year 2, students pursue specialization courses aligned with their academic interests, allowing for deeper engagement in selected thematic or methodological areas. The program culminates in a thesis writing seminar, where students conduct independent research and prepare their master’s thesis under academic supervision, demonstrating advanced analytical and scholarly competence.
