COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc in Physiotherapy curriculum offers a comprehensive progression from foundational sciences to advanced clinical practice, ensuring students develop both theoretical knowledge and hands-on professional competence. In the first year, students build essential foundations through subjects such as anatomy, histology, embryology, physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, cell biology, microbiology, genetics, and medical Latin, alongside introductory modules in psychology, sociology, pedagogy, communication, health informatics, first aid, and bioethics. These are complemented by core physiotherapy basics and physical therapy modalities, including electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, balneotherapy, and climatotherapy. The second year deepens scientific understanding with biochemistry, clinical propedeutics, dietetics, gerontology, health care law, and research methodology, while strengthening practical skills through kinesiology practice, mobilization and manual techniques, and applied training methods. In the third year, the focus shifts toward clinical disciplines, including internal medicine, neurology, orthopaedics, rheumatology, traumatology, psychiatry, pathology, pharmacology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, preventive medicine, and diagnostic imaging, enabling students to understand disease processes and their implications for physiotherapy. Professional orientation modules and supervised paediatric practice further prepare students for real clinical environments. The final year emphasizes rehabilitation and advanced physiotherapy practice through intensive therapy, movement system rehabilitation, health promotion in primary care, and specialized clinical placements in internal medicine, neurology, orthopaedics, rheumatology, traumatology, and rehabilitation. These placements allow students to integrate assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention across diverse patient populations. The program concludes with a thesis, encouraging critical thinking and research engagement. Overall, the curriculum is designed to produce competent, ethical, and reflective physiotherapists who are capable of delivering evidence-based care, supporting functional recovery, promoting health, and adapting to the evolving demands of modern healthcare settings.
