COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc in Public Health program follows a structured four-year curriculum that gradually builds from foundational knowledge to applied professional practice. In the first year, students develop core competencies in anatomy, physiology, cell biology, biostatistics, genetics, health informatics, communication, psychology, sociology, pedagogy, bioethics, ecology, and economics, alongside introductions to public health, health anthropology, and the history of public health. This foundation supports an understanding of how biological, social, and environmental factors shape population health. The second year introduces key scientific and clinical subjects such as epidemiology, immunology, microbiology, biochemistry, environmental health, public health medicine, clinical propedeutics, and health-related law, enabling students to analyse communicable and non-communicable diseases and understand healthcare systems. During the third year, learning becomes more practice-oriented, covering occupational health, pharmacology, health promotion and policy, child and adolescent health, gerontology, dietetics, research methodology, and aquatic environmental protection, supported by field and laboratory practice to strengthen applied skills. In the final year, students focus on advanced topics including applied epidemiology, nutritional health and food safety, quality assurance, health promotion in primary care, and healthcare law, while completing extended field and laboratory placements and a thesis. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on data analysis, preventive strategies, community engagement, and evidence-based decision-making. Graduates gain the ability to assess population health needs, design and evaluate public health interventions, support disease prevention initiatives, and contribute to health promotion programs across diverse settings. By integrating scientific knowledge with practical experience, the program prepares students to address real-world public health challenges and provides a strong academic foundation for further postgraduate study or professional roles in healthcare, government, and community organisations.
