COURSE CURRICULUM

The Earth Sciences BSc program provides a thorough foundation in understanding the Earth’s systems, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience in fieldwork and laboratory studies. In the first year, students gain essential skills in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science, alongside introductory courses in geology, mineralogy, physical geography, environmental protection, soil geography, and ecology. These courses establish a broad scientific understanding that allows students to analyze natural processes and their interactions within the Earth system. Fieldwork in the first year offers hands-on experience, enabling students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world environments and develop observational and analytical skills critical for a career in Earth sciences.In the second year, students build on their foundation with more specialized courses in structural geology, biogeography, atmospheric resources, hydrology, and hydrogeology. They also learn cartography and advanced physical geography, allowing them to understand the spatial distribution of geological and environmental phenomena. The program emphasizes analyzing both natural and anthropogenic processes that affect the Earth, such as climate variability, water resources, and landscape formation, fostering a deeper understanding of environmental interactions and potential hazards.The third year introduces advanced topics such as geothermics and surface analyses, equipping students with the tools to evaluate energy and material flows, as well as methods to monitor and assess geological and environmental processes. The program culminates in an independent research project or thesis, enabling students to integrate their knowledge, conduct field or laboratory studies, and develop problem-solving and analytical skills. Overall, the curriculum prepares graduates for careers in environmental management, resource exploration, hazard assessment, and research, while also providing a strong foundation for further study at the master’s level. Graduates emerge with a comprehensive understanding of the Earth system, its resources, and its dynamic processes, ready to address environmental and technological challenges in a professional setting.
