COURSE CURRICULUM

The Industrial and Product Design program at Budapest Metropolitan University is structured to progressively build creative, technical, and professional competencies through a practice-oriented curriculum. During the first year, students focus on establishing strong foundations in industrial and concept design methodology while developing essential 2D and 3D software skills. This stage introduces research-based, problem-solving design processes that help students learn how to analyze user needs, explore concepts, and translate ideas into functional design solutions. Emphasis is placed on visual thinking, digital modeling, and understanding contemporary design trends, enabling students to approach projects with both creativity and structure. In the second year, learning becomes more complex and application-driven as students begin designing object systems with environmentally responsible thinking, integrating sustainability into material choices, production methods, and overall concept development. This phase also provides valuable opportunities to collaborate with companies, allowing students to experience real market environments, professional workflows, and client-based design challenges. Through these industry connections, learners gain insight into product development cycles and expectations of the creative sector. Alongside this, students become familiar with 3D printing technologies, enhancing their ability to prototype and test ideas quickly while refining form, function, and usability.
