COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Clinical Neuropsychology modules provide students with advanced theoretical knowledge, research skills, clinical assessment abilities, and practical experience in understanding brain function, cognition, behaviour, and rehabilitation. Applied Neuroscience introduces modern neuroimaging techniques such as MRI, MEG, EEG, and NIRS, with particular practical emphasis on EEG and its applications in neuroscience. Fundamentals in Neuropsychology develops understanding of brain structure and function at cellular, molecular, and larger levels, while exploring their relationship with mental processes, brain recovery following traumatic injury and stroke, and clinical neuroscience approaches such as neurofeedback, TMS, and tDCS. Introduction to Research Methods in Neuropsychology develops skills in quantitative and qualitative research, including experimental and correlational designs, surveys, interviews, focus groups, participant observation, data collection, analysis, and interpretation, with strong attention to research ethics, reliability, and validity. Neurodevelopmental Disorders examines conditions including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, Tourette syndrome, communication and language disorders, genetic disorders, Down syndrome, and Williams syndrome, while covering diagnosis, comorbidity, DSM-5 criteria, and individualized interventions. Neuropsychological Assessment and Rehabilitation provides practical training in clinical interviews, history taking, standardized testing, scoring, interpretation, report writing, and communicating findings to patients and families. Students also learn to design individualized rehabilitation programmes using approaches such as cognitive training and brain stimulation while considering ethical and cultural factors. Neuropsychological Disorders of Perception and Attention explores acquired attentional and perceptual difficulties following brain damage, including problems involving spatial, object, and face perception, and connects neuropsychological research with clinical assessment and treatment approaches. The Practicum in Clinical Neuropsychology is a major practical component, providing intensive supervised training in neuropsychological assessment, data interpretation, clinical reporting, and cognitive rehabilitation using restorative and compensatory strategies for everyday functional difficulties. The modules collectively integrate neuroscience, neuropsychology, clinical practice, research methodology, assessment, and rehabilitation, preparing students to understand complex neurological conditions and apply evidence-based approaches in clinical and research environments.
