COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) in Computer Science (Web Technologies) is a four-year programme that combines fundamental computer science knowledge with specialized skills in web, Internet, mobile, cloud, and application development. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through Programming Principles and Algorithms, Mathematical Foundations, Introduction to Computer Science, Programming Methodology and Design, Web Technologies, Management, Artificial Intelligence Literacy, Digital IT Applications, and academic and professional communication. Year 2 develops core technical knowledge through Object-Oriented Programming, Database Systems, Network Architectures, Computer Systems Architecture, Logic and Automata, Systems Analysis and Design, and Information Systems and the Digital Enterprise. In Year 3, students progress to advanced computing subjects including Logic Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Web Programming, Statistics and Probability for Data Analysis, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Systems Applications, Operating Systems, Software Development, Functional Programming, Artificial Intelligence Techniques, Formal Methods and Software Reliability, Green Computing, and professional IT issues. Year 4 focuses strongly on practical and industry-relevant web and technology development. Students undertake an Individual Project and Industrial Software Project while studying Software Engineering, Network Computing, Cloud Computing, Information Security, Mobile Application Development, Game Design and Development, Front-end Application Development, and Back-end Development. Professional Development Seminar Series modules support employability and career preparation. The programme provides students with opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge through practical projects and develop skills in designing, developing, securing, and managing modern digital applications. Overall, the curriculum combines programming, databases, networking, software engineering, web development, cloud computing, cybersecurity, mobile technologies, and digital application development. Students develop technical, analytical, problem-solving, research, and project management skills while gaining an understanding of how Internet-based technologies support modern organisations and digital services. The specialized focus on front-end and back-end development provides a strong foundation for creating complete web applications, while mobile, cloud, security, and game development subjects broaden students’ technical capabilities. Graduates can pursue careers in web development, software engineering, front-end and back-end development, mobile application development, cloud technologies, network computing, information security, and other Internet and technology-related fields.
