COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) in Computer Science (Business Informatics) is a four-year programme that combines computer science, information technology, business, and digital innovation to prepare students for technology-focused roles within modern organisations. In Year 1, students establish foundational knowledge through Programming Principles and Algorithms, Mathematical Foundations, Introduction to Computer Science, Programming Methodology and Design, Web Technologies, Management, Artificial Intelligence Literacy, Digital IT Applications, and academic and professional communication. Year 2 develops core technical expertise through Object-Oriented Programming, Database Systems, Network Architectures, Computer Systems Architecture, Logic and Automata, Systems Analysis and Design, and Information Systems and the Digital Enterprise. In Year 3, students progress into advanced computing and information systems subjects including Logic Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Web Programming, Statistics and Probability for Data Analysis, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Systems Applications, Operating Systems, Software Development, Functional Programming, Artificial Intelligence Techniques, Formal Methods and Software Reliability, Green Computing, and professional IT issues. Year 4 places greater emphasis on practical projects, business applications, innovation, and strategic technology management. Students undertake an Individual Project and Industrial Software Project while studying Software Engineering, Data Science, Social Media and Networks, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in IT, E-Commerce and Digital Markets, IT Strategy in Business, and Knowledge Technologies for Innovation. Professional Development Seminar Series modules also support career preparation and employability. Overall, the programme develops programming, software development, database, networking, data, AI, information systems, and business technology skills while helping students understand how technology can improve organisational performance and support innovation. The practical projects allow students to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges, while the final-year subjects develop an understanding of digital markets, entrepreneurship, e-commerce, social networks, knowledge technologies, and strategic IT management.
