COURSE CURRICULUM
The MA in Human Resource Management modules provide students with a comprehensive understanding of modern HR practices, people management, talent development, employment law, and research. HRM in Context introduces students to the role and importance of human resource management within different organizational and business environments, helping them understand how HR strategies connect with wider organizational objectives. Leading, Managing and Developing People focuses on effective leadership, employee management, motivation, performance, and professional development, enabling students to build the skills required to manage and support individuals and teams. International and Comparative HRM examines human resource practices across different countries and cultures, developing an understanding of how international organizations manage diverse workforces and how HR policies vary between national and organizational contexts. Resourcing and Developing Talent focuses on attracting, selecting, retaining, and developing employees with the skills and potential needed by organizations, while also considering workforce planning and employee development. Employment Law and Relations provides knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding employment, workplace relationships, employee rights, and employer responsibilities, helping students understand how organizations can manage employment matters responsibly and effectively. Dissertation and Research Methods develops students’ ability to conduct independent academic and professional research, including identifying research problems, selecting appropriate methods, evaluating information, analysing findings, and presenting conclusions. The dissertation allows students to apply the knowledge and research skills developed throughout the programme to a specific HR-related topic or organizational issue. Together, these modules provide a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge, practical HR skills, leadership capabilities, international awareness, legal understanding, talent management, and research expertise. The programme prepares students to address contemporary human resource challenges and contribute to effective people management within a wide range of organizations. Graduates can develop the analytical, communication, decision-making, leadership, and problem-solving skills needed for professional careers in human resource management and related business functions.
