The BSc Business Computing modules provide students with a broad combination of programming, databases, web development, software engineering, systems design, cybersecurity, business intelligence, project management, and professional computing skills. Problem Solving & Programming develops logical thinking and programming abilities, helping students understand how to analyse problems and create effective technical solutions. Digital Footprints explores the information and traces created through online activities and their implications for individuals and organizations. Computer Systems introduces the fundamental components and operation of computing systems, while Database Design and Development focuses on creating, managing, and maintaining structured databases for business applications. Web Development and Web Programming develop practical skills for designing and building websites and web-based applications. Software Engineering Fundamentals introduces professional approaches to software development, including planning, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. Systems Design & Development focuses on analysing requirements and developing technology solutions that meet organizational and user needs. Object-Relational Databases and Modern Databases expand students’ knowledge of advanced database technologies and data management approaches. Quality and User-centred Systems emphasizes the development of reliable, usable, accessible, and user-focused computing solutions, while Website Management examines the ongoing administration, maintenance, and improvement of websites. The Group Project provides an opportunity to collaborate with other students on a practical computing task, developing teamwork, communication, project planning, and technical problem-solving abilities. Business Intelligence introduces the use of data and analytical technologies to generate insights that support business decisions and organizational performance. IT Project Management develops skills in planning, coordinating, managing, and delivering technology projects while considering resources, objectives, risks, and deadlines. Cyber Security and Applied Cryptography introduces principles and techniques for protecting systems, networks, applications, and information from security threats, while exploring the use of cryptography to secure digital communication and data. The Computing Dissertation allows students to independently investigate a computing-related topic and apply their technical, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills to a substantial project.
