COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master’s program in New Media Design (MA) at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) spans four semesters and awards 120 ECTS credits. It prepares students to creatively and critically design communication across physical and virtual spaces through a multidisciplinary curriculum combining design, technology, and media theory. In the first semester, students engage with foundational modules such as Hybrid Media, Digital Environments, Performativity, and Advanced Research Methodologies. The second semester builds on this foundation with modules like Emerging Tools & Methodologies, Extended Realities, and Theory of Media. Students also choose between Speculative Futures or Visual Narratology and undertake an Interdisciplinary Elective. The third semester focuses on leadership and collaborative innovation, including modules such as Contemporary Leadership Culture, Cultural Studies, and the Capstone Project—a practice-oriented consulting assignment that may span multiple programs. The final semester centers on thesis development and the completion of a Master Thesis and Colloquium, which collectively carry 30 ECTS. Throughout the program, students explore themes like performativity, storytelling, and media tools, all while applying their knowledge in collaborative, real-world projects. Elective modules and interdisciplinary learning enhance the flexibility and scope of the degree, supporting a personalized and career-focused academic path.
