COURSE CURRICULUM

The Visual & Experience Design (MA) program spans three semesters and totals 90 ECTS credits. The curriculum integrates a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge, practical design skills, and interdisciplinary projects. In the first semester, students focus on foundational modules such as Graphic Practice & Narratives (5 ECTS, 3 HWS), Design in Crisis (5 ECTS, 3 HWS), Advanced Research Methodologies (5 ECTS, 3 HWS), and Contemporary Leadership Culture (5 ECTS). They also engage with interdisciplinary electives (5 ECTS) and specialization modules like Atlas of Design (3 ECTS). The second semester deepens understanding through courses such as Envisioning (6 ECTS), Speculative Futures (5 ECTS, 3 HWS), Cultural Studies (5 ECTS), Culture in Technology (5 ECTS), and Data & Society (5 ECTS), alongside the interdisciplinary electives. The third semester includes the Thesis & Colloquium (10 ECTS) where students develop and present their master’s thesis, as well as Experience Design (6 ECTS) to apply learned skills practically. The course emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, encouraging collaboration across faculties with university-wide and faculty-wide modules, and offers elective options from other faculties to broaden perspectives. The program is conducted in English, preparing students to address complex challenges in visual and experience design, with a strong focus on innovation, critical thinking, and leadership. With weekly contact hours ranging mostly between 3 and 6, students receive a comprehensive education that balances studio practice, research, and conceptual design development, equipping them for diverse careers in the evolving global design landscape.
