COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Sports Science: Training & Performance at UE offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for a successful career in competitive sports. Spanning six semesters and totaling 180 ECTS, the program blends theoretical foundations with hands-on experience, preparing graduates to train athletes effectively at all levels.In the first semester, students are introduced to the organization of competitive sport, practical training in individual sports, communication in sports, sports pedagogy, and basic training science. These foundational courses provide a broad understanding of the sports environment and the essential skills needed for athlete development.The second semester deepens physiological and internistic aspects of competitive sports, practical training in sports games, methods and statistics in sports, sports sociology and management, and concepts of training methodology. This combination of scientific and practical content helps students apply research methods and management principles to the sporting context.By the third semester, students explore pedagogical aspects of competitive sports, strength and endurance training, diversity and teams in sports, technology and innovations in sports, and training tailored to different target groups. This semester focuses on advanced techniques and inclusive approaches that reflect the diversity of athletes and sports disciplines.The fourth semester emphasizes diagnostics and training in competitive sports, clinical considerations such as health and doping, and practical project work in training and performance. Students also study training methods and sports psychology, gaining insight into optimizing athletic performance while ensuring ethical practices and mental well-being.The fifth semester offers a semester abroad, providing international exposure, while the sixth semester includes a 30 ECTS internship and completion of the bachelor thesis and its colloquium, allowing students to integrate their knowledge in a professional setting.Electives allow students to specialize, choosing courses like development and talent potentials in sports or nutrition and recovery. Throughout the program, practical training and internships ensure graduates are ready to meet the demands of the competitive sports industry, whether as coaches, trainers, or sports scientists.
