COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master’s program in Dysphagia Management at SRH University is structured over four semesters with a total of 120 ECTS, combining online and on-campus learning to allow students to balance work and study. Each semester includes one weekly online study day and three intensive on-campus weeks in Heidelberg, providing flexibility while ensuring hands-on experience. In the first semester, students focus on the fundamentals of swallowing, both normal and impaired, alongside screening and clinical assessment techniques, principles of dysphagia therapy, treatment planning, and instrumental assessment, supported by an introduction to research methods. The curriculum is designed to progressively build expertise, with subsequent semesters deepening practical and theoretical knowledge, integrating advanced diagnostics, therapeutic interventions, and patient-centered care. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based approaches, preparing students to analyze clinical data and apply best practices in diverse patient populations, from paediatric to geriatric care. Research methods and scientific inquiry are embedded throughout, culminating in the development of a master’s thesis that synthesizes clinical and academic learning. By combining practical training, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the study of modern dysphagia therapy techniques, including technology-enhanced interventions, the program equips graduates with the skills necessary for clinical, leadership, and research roles in dysphagia management, ensuring readiness for professional practice in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.
