COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master’s program in Smart and Sustainable Buildings offers a multidisciplinary and practical curriculum that integrates advanced engineering, digital technologies, and sustainability. In the first semester, you gain foundational knowledge in electrical and electronics engineering, CAD design with Siemens NX, and industrial networking through hands-on simulations like the production processing game. Courses in data analysis, programming, and innovation foresight are complemented by a Project Lab that includes Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certificate Program (SMSCP) Level 1. The second semester builds on this with modules in Artificial Intelligence I, project and risk management, and software development (including SMSCP Level 2). You also explore modern building technologies like KNX-based control systems, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and digital twins. In the third semester, the focus shifts to AI II, decentralised energy management systems, facility management, and sustainable innovation, change management, and circular economy. You also advance your tech skills in digital signal processing, sensors, and cloud technologies while earning SMSCP Level 3. The final semester is dedicated to cybersecurity, a company project or internship, and research methods, culminating in your Master’s thesis. The inclusion of the full SMSCP certification across all semesters ensures strong practical, system-level competence, preparing graduates to lead in the smart and sustainable building sector.
