The B.Mus. Popular Music program is a dynamic and practice-oriented degree designed to nurture your unique artistic identity and prepare you for a career in the modern music industry. In the first semester, you build a foundation with music theory, recording technology, and an introduction to digital audio workstations, complemented by a historical overview of popular music. The second semester emphasizes performance, both live and in the studio, while introducing key musicological concepts and ensemble collaboration. By the third semester, you delve into songwriting, composition, and studio technology, learning to take a song from idea to recorded product, alongside essential legal knowledge through media law. The fourth semester focuses on arranging and performance training, enhancing your stage presence and developing routines for physical and mental well-being. The fifth semester offers a practical phase where you gain real-world experience through internships or international study. In the sixth semester, you explore music pedagogy and the business side of the industry, learning how to teach, market, and manage yourself as an artist. The final semester brings all your training together through advanced artist development, practical teaching, and the completion of your bachelor's thesis, which can include artistic or creative components. Throughout all semesters, consistent ensemble work, practical projects, and elective modules support both your musical craft and professional growth.
