Munich Business School (MBS) is a private international business school located in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, and is recognized among the top private business schools in Germany, particularly for internationality and student mobility. Established in 1991 as part of European Business Schools International (ebsi) under the name EBA München (Europäische Betriebswirtschafts-Akademie München), the institution has grown significantly over the years. In 1999, MBS became the first state-accredited private university in Bavaria, marking a major milestone in its history. The school was officially renamed Munich Business School in 2003. Over the years, the institution has been led by notable presidents, including Rudolf Gröger from 2009 to 2015, Alfred Gossner from 2017 to 2024, and Jörg Schwitalla, who assumed office in March 2025. MBS maintains high academic standards through strong accreditation and recognition. All of its programs are accredited by the Bavarian Ministry for Education, Cultural Affairs, Science and the Arts and by FIBAA, first accredited in 2007 and re-accredited in 2013. In 2010, MBS became the first private university in Bavaria to receive institutional accreditation from the German Council of Science and Humanities, granting it unlimited state accreditation, which was reaffirmed in 2015.
