COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc IT – Cybersecurity program offers an in-depth and advanced education for students who want to specialise in protecting digital systems and data in an increasingly connected world. The program is designed to deepen existing IT knowledge while building strong expertise in cybersecurity, including cryptology, secure system architectures, and effective strategies for detecting, preventing, and responding to cyberattacks at an early stage. Students study core and advanced IT subjects such as software development, databases, information systems, IT project management, distributed systems, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, ensuring a solid technical foundation. The cybersecurity specialisation focuses on key areas including web security, cloud security, mobile security, and data security and privacy, preparing graduates to address real-world security challenges across different platforms and environments. Practical relevance is a central element of the program, with semester projects carried out in cooperation with industry partners, elective modules that allow individual specialisation, and a practice-oriented Master’s thesis completed with a company of the student’s choice. The program is taught entirely in English and can be studied in Berlin or Düsseldorf, welcoming both national and international students. An optional study abroad semester in New Zealand further enhances global exposure. Graduates earn an internationally recognised Master of Science degree, opening up diverse career opportunities worldwide in the high-demand field of cybersecurity.
