COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cyber Security BSc (Hons) program offers a comprehensive three-year curriculum that progressively builds technical knowledge and specialist expertise. In Year 1, students establish a strong foundation in computing through modules such as software development, computer science fundamentals, digital systems, and professional practice, combining theoretical understanding with practical skills and industry awareness. Year 2 focuses on applying security concepts to real-world systems, covering applied security methods, computer networks and systems, data engineering, human-computer interaction, secure cyber systems, and software design. These modules develop the ability to design, analyse, and secure complex digital environments while considering usability and system performance. In Year 3, students advance to specialised and research-led topics that reflect current and emerging challenges in the field. Modules include an independent third-year project, advanced cyber security, secure cyber-physical systems, secure artificial intelligence, and cyber security analytics. This final stage emphasises critical thinking, problem solving, and innovation, allowing students to apply their knowledge to complex security scenarios. Across all three years, the program integrates theory, hands-on practice, and professional development, preparing graduates with the technical competence and analytical skills required for successful careers in cyber security and related computing disciplines.
