COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master in Data Science and Business Intelligence at ISM is structured to provide both a strong theoretical foundation and practical experience across three semesters. In the first semester, students begin with data management through courses in data science fundamentals, database systems, ERP systems, and gain computational engineering skills in IT management, software engineering, and programming. Quantitative methods are explored through linear algebra, structure-detecting methods, and structure-validating procedures, laying the groundwork for analytical thinking. Leadership development is an integral part of the program, with classes in corporate governance, cross-cultural leadership, and executive communication. Additionally, students study digital business structures, covering theory of the firm, digital process management, and digital value networks. A significant feature of the first semester is the 12 ECTS work placement, which allows students to gain early hands-on experience in a business environment. The second semester delves into business analytics with courses on optimization, simulation, forecasting, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, equipping students with skills to derive strategic insights from data. Business control modules include IT-enabled systems, decision support systems, and management information systems, highlighting the integration of technology in corporate decision-making. The consulting section emphasizes practical business tools through subjects like strategy and market, innovation and design thinking, and consulting instruments. The semester also includes a Big Data project, where students engage in agile project management, scientific methods, and a field project, offering opportunities to solve real business problems using data. The third semester is dedicated entirely to a study abroad experience, where students earn 24 ECTS credits while gaining global exposure and expanding their cross-cultural competencies. This comprehensive program ensures that graduates are ready to drive data-driven innovation and contribute strategically to digital transformation in various industries.
