COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor’s in Finance and Management at the International School of Management (ISM) is a six-semester program that blends foundational business education with a strong focus on financial expertise. In the early semesters, students build essential knowledge in subjects such as Management Accounting, Statistics, Micro- and Macroeconomics, and Business Law. Practical skills are also developed through modules in Scientific Methods, Presentation, Project Management, and Negotiation. Early specialization begins with Advanced Financial Reporting and Financial Markets & Institutions, giving students a robust understanding of financial systems and their regulatory environments. The third semester deepens this foundation with Corporate Finance and broader business subjects like Market Research and Organizational Change. An optional internship provides real-world experience. The fourth semester is an integrated semester abroad (25 ECTS), allowing students to gain international perspectives while studying at one of ISM’s partner universities. An optional internship adds to the global learning experience. In the fifth semester, students tackle real business challenges through a hands-on Practice Project and deepen their strategic insight with courses in Strategic Management and Sustainability. Specialization options such as Controlling in Multinational Companies and Mergers & Acquisitions offer advanced, targeted knowledge. In the final semester, students choose between electives in Leadership or Innovation and focus on advanced financial topics like Derivatives & International Finance and Consulting. A mandatory internship allows for final professional preparation, while the 10 ECTS Bachelor’s Thesis marks the academic culmination of the degree. With its combination of academic rigor, applied learning, international exposure, and close industry alignment, the Finance and Management program equips students with the tools and experience needed for careers in banking, investment, corporate finance, and financial consulting, both in Germany and abroad.
