ABOUT UNIVERSITY

The University of Applied Sciences for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (FHM) is a private, state-accredited university of applied sciences located in Bielefeld, Germany, founded in 2000. It offers a wide range of degree programs across business, health and sports, education and social work, technology, media and communication, and psychology. Established by regional chambers of skilled crafts, FHM received permanent state accreditation from North Rhine-Westphalia in 2000 and institutional accreditation from the German Council of Science and Humanities in 2007, with reaccreditation in 2017. In 2010, the university transitioned fully to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree structures. Over the years, FHM expanded through strategic integrations, including Baltic College in Schwerin and the Bamberg University of Applied Sciences, strengthening its focus on health-related programs. The institution steadily diversified its academic offerings to include dual studies, part-time, distance learning, and postgraduate top-up programs designed for working professionals. Campus development continued with new sites in Frechen, Düren, and Waldshut, featuring modern facilities such as digital laboratories and cybersecurity training environments. In 2024, FHM introduced a blended learning model that combines face-to-face teaching, online instruction, and self-study, reflecting its commitment to flexible, practice-oriented higher education aligned with evolving professional needs.
