COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Data Science for Society and Business program spans four semesters (two years) and requires 120 ECTS credit points (CP) for graduation. Its modular structure is divided into five areas: Core, Methods, Discovery, Elective, and Career, plus the Master Thesis. The Core area includes three thematic units—research on digitization and societies (10 CP), digital transformation in business (10 CP), and data science and AI concepts (10 CP)—which explore the impact of new technologies on society and firms while teaching analytical techniques. The Methods area builds essential programming skills, innovative modeling, and experimental methods using cutting-edge software to support research contributions. Discovery modules offer interdisciplinary applications where faculty and industry experts introduce real-world data challenges across sectors like health education, social media marketing, robotics, and digital government. This culminates in a capstone project, or alternatively, students may complete an internship replacing the capstone and two career modules for off-campus practical experience. Electives provide specialization opportunities in fields such as business, computer science, criminology, spatial sciences, public health, and supply chain management. Students can focus their studies on one of three recommended tracks—Society and Business, Data Science, or Environmental & Health—or combine courses freely to tailor their expertise. The program encourages diverse career goals and backgrounds, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience through collaboration with research, institutional, or industry partners both on and off-campus.
