COURSE CURRICULUM

The Data Engineering graduate program spans four semesters (two years) and combines foundational lectures, specialized modules, industry seminars, and applied project work, culminating in a master thesis. The program is divided into five key areas: Core, Elective, Methods, Discovery, Career, plus the Master Thesis, requiring a total of 120 ECTS credit points (CP) to graduate. The Elective area (15 CP) offers flexibility, allowing students from diverse backgrounds and career goals to select modules that best fit their interests and prior knowledge, with options to follow complete tracks or mix modules as needed. The Methods area (15 CP) focuses on advanced data engineering concepts and technologies relevant to industrial applications. Students have the freedom to choose modules here and may transfer credits between the Methods and Elective areas after academic advising, except for remedial courses. The Discovery area (15 CP) begins with a Project Seminar on Current Topics and Challenges in Data Engineering during the first semester, followed by two advanced data engineering projects in semesters two and three, each worth 5 CP. These projects are supervised by university faculty and can take place in research groups or through company internships. Finally, the fourth semester is dedicated to the Master Thesis (30 CP), where students conduct research and write their thesis under academic supervision, integrating their learning and preparing for professional or academic careers.
