COURSE CURRICULUM

The Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology (MCCB) program at Constructor University is a three-year English-taught Bachelor of Science degree designed to prepare students for the rapidly evolving pharmaceutical and biotech industries. The program provides a deep understanding of how drugs interact with the body at molecular, cellular, and physiological levels, combining the strengths of medicinal chemistry with the broader context of chemical biology. This integrated approach equips students not only to understand disease mechanisms but also to explore innovative therapeutic strategies. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through core modules in medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and cell biology, totaling 30 credit points. In the second year, students delve into advanced topics through mandatory modules such as pharmaceutical chemistry, chemical biology, advanced organic chemistry, and laboratory-based training, with the option to choose further modules in fields like drug discovery, molecular modeling, and scientific software. The final year allows for specialization in areas such as natural product research, synthetic biology, and advanced synthesis, along with elective options from related disciplines like biochemistry and physical chemistry. A two-month mandatory internship between the second and third year gives students the opportunity to gain professional experience in pharmaceutical or biotech companies or research institutions. The program culminates in a bachelor thesis during the sixth semester, allowing students to engage in hands-on research and apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges.
