COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biochemistry and Cell Biology (BCCB) program at Constructor University provides a comprehensive interdisciplinary education focused on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of life. In the first year, students complete 45 credit points (CP), including 30 CP of major-specific introductory modules such as General Biochemistry, General and Inorganic Chemistry, General Cell Biology, and General Organic Chemistry, which combine lectures and laboratory work to establish foundational knowledge and skills. In the second year, students deepen their expertise through 45 CP of core modules, including Advanced Biochemistry I and II, Advanced Biochemistry Lab, Advanced Cell Biology I and II, Advanced Cell Biology Lab, and Microbiology, covering metabolism, gene regulation, cellular complexity, genetics, and disease mechanisms, along with extensive hands-on lab training using modern techniques. Additionally, they complete 10 CP of discipline-specific electives or substitute these with minor program modules. The third year focuses on specialization, career preparation, and research experience, requiring students to complete 15 CP of specialization modules such as Experimental Strategy Design, Biomedicine, or Current Topics in Molecular Life Sciences, with the option to take related modules as well. A mandatory two-month internship of 15 CP between the second and third years provides practical professional experience or, alternatively, students may develop a business plan through a start-up option. The final semester is devoted to an extended Bachelor thesis project, which fosters research skills and aims to produce publication-quality work. Overall, the BCCB program equips students with critical scientific knowledge, practical research experience, and professional skills to pursue careers or advanced studies in biomedicine, biotechnology, molecular biology, and related life sciences fields.
