COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Sports Management program is structured across four terms, each designed to build critical skills and subject knowledge necessary for success in the global sports industry. The course covers strategic, financial, legal, and operational aspects of sports management, with a focus on real-world applications.In Term 1, students begin with Strategic Management in Sports, where they explore how to formulate and implement effective strategies within sports organisations. This is supported by Working with Data, a module focused on developing analytical skills using industry-relevant data sets, and Corporate Finance in Sports Management, which introduces the financial principles essential for managing sports entities. Study Methods is also included to help students adapt to academic research and writing at postgraduate level.Term 2 continues with Business of Esports, offering insight into one of the fastest-growing areas in sports and entertainment. Students also take Strategic Human Resources in Sports, which examines talent management and organisational culture, and Management and Leadership in Sports, focusing on leadership styles and decision-making in a competitive sporting environment.In Term 3, the emphasis shifts toward project-based and legal understanding. Research Methods in Sports Management prepares students for independent research work, while Project Management in Sports provides tools and techniques for delivering successful sports-related initiatives. Sports Law for Business introduces legal frameworks and compliance issues relevant to the sports sector, ensuring students are aware of the regulatory environment in which sports businesses operate.Term 4 is dedicated to the Dissertation or Final Course Project. This final component allows students to explore a topic of interest in-depth, either through academic research or by delivering a substantial project with practical relevance. This final stage brings together the learning and experience from the previous terms, enabling students to demonstrate critical thinking, professional insight, and subject expertise as they transition into the sports management industry.
