COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Visual Communication program spans 18 months and is structured across three academic terms. Each term is carefully designed to support the progressive development of your creative practice, leading to the completion of a final project and written dissertation.In term 1, titled Defining Your Practice, you will begin by exploring a range of creative practices to help you identify a suitable methodology for your individual project. This phase is focused on experimentation, research, and cultivating your own visual language. You will be encouraged to reflect critically on your work and develop a clear understanding of your creative discipline.Term 2 focuses on Context and Method, alongside Project Development. During this stage, you will engage with theoretical, cultural, and contextual debates relevant to your discipline. Through lectures and seminars, you will be introduced to a variety of methodologies and research frameworks that will inform your creative work. At the same time, you will plan and begin developing your final MA project, supported by tutorials, peer reviews, and group critiques.Term 3 is centred around Realisation and Dissemination. Here, you will finalise and present your MA project, demonstrating the skills, knowledge, and critical thinking developed throughout the course. You will also write your MA dissertation, which will document the research, methodology, and conceptual underpinnings of your final project. This term is the culmination of your studies, where your creative ideas are fully realised and presented in a professional context.The program is delivered entirely on campus, allowing access to studio space, workshops, and technical support. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive environment, where ongoing feedback and dialogue are central to your development as a visual communicator.
