COURSE CURRICULUM

BSc (Hons) Psychology is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with a strong foundation in psychological theory, research, and professional practice. The integrated foundation year develops essential academic knowledge and skills while introducing core psychological concepts through modules focused on being, feeling, thinking, and human development, alongside a psychology project. In the first year, students explore the fundamentals of psychology and human behaviour through subjects such as principles of psychology, human interaction, attitudes to work and performance, positive psychology, usability and cognition, interpersonal skills, and research and study skills for social scientists. The second year deepens understanding across major psychological disciplines, including cognitive, developmental, biological, and social psychology, as well as individual differences, mental health, and forensic psychology. Students also build strong research capabilities through experimental, survey, qualitative, and analytical research methods. In the final year, students apply their knowledge in practical and professional contexts through an independent project and modules covering work and organisations, cultural psychology, social issues, exercise and physical activity interventions, and applied sport psychology. The course equips graduates with critical thinking, research expertise, communication skills, and practical experience, preparing them for careers in psychology, mental health, education, human resources, sport, and other people-focused professional sectors.
