COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Media and Communications program is delivered through a balanced mix of lectures, workshops, practical sessions, and independent study, allowing students to develop both theoretical understanding and hands-on skills. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of media and communication through modules such as media and communications studies, mobile communications, journalism, film studies, and music marketing and promotion, supported by a practical skills toolkit. This year builds a strong foundation in media analysis, content creation, and communication practices. The second year expands students’ critical and creative abilities by focusing on journalism and content production, digital media challenges such as information and disinformation, marketing and advertising, and the cultural and political dimensions of celebrity and media. Students also choose from creative options including digital photography, iconic screen characters, documentary, or global television, allowing them to tailor their interests. In the third year, students engage with advanced and specialized topics such as horror or representation on screen, advanced digital photography or campaign writing, and global cinema or documentary projects. The program culminates in a media and communications dissertation, enabling students to conduct independent research and demonstrate in-depth understanding of their chosen area within a global media context.
