COURSE CURRICULUM

The Strategic Project Management curriculum is structured to provide a comprehensive combination of complementary, methodological, engineering, major, and optional studies, totaling at least 120 ECTS credits. Complementary studies (20–26 ECTS) include academic writing courses and optional Finnish language studies for international students, along with a research information course if not previously completed. Method studies (15 ECTS) focus on research methods and allow students to choose two subjects such as agile project management, decision analysis, or probability and statistics. Engineering studies (20 ECTS) offer flexibility, with students selecting courses from areas like systems engineering, machine learning, robotics, smart energy systems, and complex system design to build technical expertise. Major studies (74–75 ECTS) form the core of the program and are divided into three blocks: project working, which covers tools, techniques, and practical project work; making projects succeed, focusing on leadership, risk management, and project finance; and advanced project studies, which include strategic and specialized project management topics. The program culminates in a master’s thesis (30 ECTS), including a research plan, thesis writing, and presentation, along with a maturity exam. Optional studies (0–6 ECTS) allow further customization through electives, internships, or language courses.
