COURSE CURRICULUM

The Smart Cities and Communities Erasmus Mundus master’s program offers a multidisciplinary learning experience with a strong focus on smart energy and sustainable urban solutions. At the University of Vaasa, students can take a 30 ECTS Smart Grid Solutions module that explores innovative energy systems, new technologies, and evolving business models. The program is supported by an extensive global consortium that includes universities, research institutions, and companies of various sizes, providing students with valuable opportunities for research traineeships, supervision, and practical work experience aligned with industry needs. The program is taught entirely in English and spans two years (120 ECTS credits), during which students study across three different countries. Partner institutions include the University of Mons, International Hellenic University, and University of the Basque Country, offering an international and diverse academic environment. While tuition fees apply, students can apply for full or partial scholarships. The program is suitable for applicants with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences, or economics with an engineering background, preparing them for careers in sustainable urban development and smart city innovation.
